It has been a ‘Golden Summer’ for Team GB at the Rio Olympics & Paralympics with a record number of medals won. We think PE and physical development is a really important part of school, not only for the health benefits, but for raising self esteem, developing teamwork, building confidence and a whole range of life skills which children can use out of school and into the future.
We are delighted to announce that, for the third year running, we have been awarded the ‘School Games Gold Award’ for primary sport! This is a hard award to achieve and not all schools will do so. It reflects pupil participation more than our sporting successes and is awarded, for example, for the hours of PE we spend doing gym, dance, skills, swimming, invasion & net/wall games and the numbers who attend after school clubs across the year. It also includes our participation in inter-school sports events (as reflected in our expanding trophy cabinets) and how our older children support younger ones, like on infant sports day.
So well done to everyone in helping us achieve gold again!
