Disability Sport Awareness Day
Year 5 had the wonderful opportunity to try out a range of disability sports at the Meridian Centre whilst meeting local coaches and participants. The children have previously played the disability sports of Boccia, Goalball and New Age Curling at school, but they were able to try Wheelchair Basketball, Walking/Blind Football, Archery and Table Cricket at this event especially laid on to raise awareness of disability in Louth.
The children had a fantastic time with our good friend Scott (known as ‘Wheels’ to all) who has cerebral palsy, but still enjoys cricket and wheelchair basketball. ‘Wheels’ introduced each of the activities to them and shared information about disability and how it impacts on his life.
