Did it cross the line?
No, this is not another debate on whether the Russian linesman got it right to decide if Geoff Hurst’s 2nd goal in the 1966 World Cup Final really did cross the line or not, rather it was the hot topic of debate by the school football team on their return from the Louth Schools Soccer Tournament at Cordeaux!
With our B Team having finished a spirited 3rd in their group,
our A Team, victors of the ‘Red League’, faced Market Rasen Primary School in the competition final. A 2-1 win became a 2-2 draw when the keeper’s save (by tipping the ball over the bar) was given as a goal, controversial as there was no bar! So to penalties and, in classic tradition, defeat!
No moaning guys, the referee’s decision is final!
Well done to everyone who took part in a great event.
