Battle of Britain Remembered

Year 5 and Year 6 had a brilliant day visiting the BBMF at RAF Coningsby as part of their WW2 topic. The children got to see the famous Spitfires, Hurricane and Lancaster bomber and even had the opportunity to board a Dakota transport like a paratrooper! The visit coincided with the recent commemorations of the Battle of Britain which took place in the skies above Kent and the South East of England 75 years ago. What an experience!

We are Gold!

We are Gold! For the second year running we have achieved the School Games Gold Award for Primary Schools! Our trophy cabinets show we are successful in a range of sports which our junior age children can take part in: Swimming, Hockey, Cricket, Cross-Country, Football, Tag Rugby, High 5 Netball, Indoor Athletics, Scatterball, Rounders and even Tri-Golf! This award, however, is more a recognition for participation in these events and the number of children involved. Alongside our usual competitions, last year we took part in two new ‘paralympic style’ events of Goalball and New Age Curling and the Change4Life after-school

Bikeability

Year 5 have been learning how to ride safely in all conditions – chiefly the wet! If the children pass Day 1 on the playground they will move onto the road for Day 2. Left foot on the ground, right foot in starting position on the pedal, look behind over your right shoulder (is it safe?), off you go!

Pirate Day

Ahoy me hearties! Shiver me timbers! Year 1 & Year 2 had a fantastic Pirate Day to launch their autumn topic. The children baked ship’s biscuit ”Pieces of 8 doubloons’, made treasure maps, pirate hats, hand-print parrots and shouted “A-haaa!” frequently! The children looked great and the staff got into the spirit of the day too!
